20 hours ECE:

We provide the Ministry of Education’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) for 3, 4 & 5 year olds. Under this policy, children are entitled to 20 hours Early Childhood Education per week.

Ministry of Education funds 3, 4 and 5 year olds 20 hours of Early Childhood Education each week. To access this, the child must be enrolled at a teacher-led ECE service (such as Peninsula Community Preschool) and some Kohanga Reo. Those 20 hours can only be claimed for up to 6 hours each day, during which time no fees will be charged to the parents.

Parents may be able to access additional subsidies through Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) if they meet funding criteria.

For more details on the 20 hours ECE policy please see the 20 hours ECE, or go to the Ministry of Education website and read more about the policy under the Early Childhood section of the website.

Food/kai:

Parents provide a packed morning tea, lunch and drink. We encourage all parents to provide healthy and nutritious food. Fruit and vegetables provided by the Preschool are offered to the children in the afternoon.

We are extremely proud and excited to announce that we have received a Whānau Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation for the amazing things we do to promote healthy food and physical activity. We are helping our tamariki to have healthy habits and healthy hearts for life. We are currently working towards the next level of the Healthy Heart Award; Pa Harakeke.

Visiting:

We encourage families to visit the Preschool close to the time that their child starts Preschool. Waiting lists information packs are available via e-mail – peninsula.preschool@xtra.co.nz. Parents are welcome to come in and drop off the waiting list form and have a look around. We do appreciate parents calling first.
