Te Whāriki (updated 2017)
Te Whāriki is the Ministry of Education’s early childhood curriculum and policy statement. Te Whāriki is a framework for providing tamariki/children’s early learning and development within a socio-cultural context. It emphasises the learning partnership between kaiako/teachers, parents, whānau/families. Kaiako/teachers weave a holistic curriculum in response to tamariki//children’s learning and development in the early childhood setting and the wider context of the child’s world.
The Enviroschools kaupapa is creating a healthy, peaceful and sustainable world through facilitating action-learning; where inter-generations of people work with and learn from nature. Peninsula Community Preschool is an Enviroschool, and we enjoy and take pride in developing and strengthening our sustainable practices, being in touch with nature, and learning about the environment and how to care for it.
ERO reviews schools and early childhood education services, and publishes national reports on current education practice.
